He had hidden him in Nazi time and helped him to leave Germany . Max Löhnberg was living with his son Herbert in London. If you or your husband are interested in further details please give me your email and I try to tell you more. So long Barbara

Hi Barbara,
That is so interesting! My husband, Michael Lohnberg, is the grandson of
Max and son of Herbert. Michael came to the United States in 1968, we
married in 1977 and live in southern California. When I told him about
your message he was very excited and would love to hear more about it. He
was very fond of his grandfather. He said the name Henke sounded familiar
to him.
We would love to hear more about you and the letters
you have that your grandfather and Max wrote to each other.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Esty Lohnberg

Esty Lohnberg I’m not sure why Google plus doesn’t print the email address but I’ll put
it here without the @ – just substitute the letters AT with the symbol @ to
get the email address: rusticwestATgmail.com
Hopefully that might work!

Hi Esty, I was really pleased to find this note on Google! My wife has been collecting Duron chalkware pieces for many years now and recently I have been searching for information on the designers and trying to understand how many of these wonderful pieces were made. I visited the National Archives in Kew Gardens, London and this is where I found Max and Hermann Lohnbergs names.
I have started a website to collate all my efforts (durons.wordpress.com) and was wondering if you would mind sharing any information about their time in London when they were working on these pieces (if indeed you have any info?). If not, then no problem, but it would be satisfying to know I have found the right family lineage !
Have a great day,
Simon (based in France)

Although I worked part time at their premises on Ronalds Road around mid fifties, I do not specifically recall the Duron product. Perhaps they stopped producing it in early fifties. Max died in 1958. I do recall many of the products both locally produced and imported. Sorry I cannot be of more help. Please confirm receipt of this e-mail so that i know you have received it.
