OPEN QUESTIONS

1. The 475/477/480 canoe-figure cluster has a real, documented gender inconsistency across listings (lady vs African man).
2. “Moderna” as the renamed successor to ARNOVA is the strongest lead for expanding the catalogue further — worth actively searching
“Moderna Melani” and “Moderna [number]” listings as a follow-up pass.
3. The Carli Frères Wikipedia article (both French and Dutch versions exist, Dutch is more detailed) is the best lead toward a real primary
source: it cites Cor Engelen & Mieke Marx, “Beeldhouwkunst in België vanaf 1830” (Brussels, Studia 90, 2022), pages 456-458, which
apparently discusses Melani-adjacent material directly. Worth trying to source this book (likely via Belgian libraries/booksellers) before
   publishing firm claims.
4. Given the strength of the Brussels/Schaerbeek casting-house connection, it may be worth checking Belgian business registries or
the Belgian equivalent of UK Companies House (Banque-Carrefour des Entreprises) for a historical “Arnova” or “Moderna” registration —
this is the kind of archival pull that turned up real founder/date info for Carli Frères and could do the same here.
